Kohlrabi is a tall annual grass that grows easily in dry climates. Kohlrabi, Brassica data, is a perennial herbaceous perennial used for its edible root. The kohlrabi plant usually has an erect underground stem that is topped by a long white-colored spike or bloomed spike that is colored broadly to include the entire top of the plant, which is purple in color. It blooms during late spring and early summer.

There are two broad categories of Kohlrabi varieties – one is the flowering bulbous stem and the other is the underground tubers. The Kohlrabi with the flowering bulbous stem has fleshy gray-green leaves, which have a single white ray or band along the underside of each leaf. The flowers on this variety are large and red in color and usually have four stamens. The tubers form a dense, bristle-like hair along the base of the plant and have a cream color on the undersides.

Kohlrabi with its cabbage family members possess a number of important qualities. It is able to withstand harsh weather conditions and pests. In addition, it possesses desirable soil qualities. These leaves are coated with a bitter resin known as resin which may cause irritation to certain allergic people. Kohlrabi should be planted in rich soil in full sun. Plants need well drained, rich soil that retains moisture so that after planting they do not dry out very quickly.

There are certain care requirements that are important to take into consideration for Kohrabi growth. This variety of crop must be planted in well-drained soil that retains enough moisture so that after planting they do not dry out very quickly. They require lots of light but not too much. The temperature and humidity levels that are experienced during the growing season are extremely important. Kohrabi is a perennial crop that grows to about ten inches tall and between twelve to eighteen inches wide. The mature plant is an evergreen perennial that prefers the deeper shade during hot, dry summers.

During the fall planting of this crop, a thick coating of straw needs to be applied to the soil to help protect the plant from birds and other pests. During the hot, dry summer months the plant will also benefit from a heavy dousing of irrigation water. The soil should be well-rooted with well-drained, rich soil that retains enough moisture so that after planting they do not dry out very quickly.

The flowers and foliage of Kohrabi are full sun loving plants that love full sun throughout the growing season. However, they do have trouble dealing with frost during the winter season. To solve this problem, it is important to properly fertilize the plant with a fertilizer that is free of nitrogen. In addition, if there are weeds on the area where you plan to grow Kohrabi, they must be pulled before the planting begins to give the full sun exposure that the plant will need.
