Belonging to the Rutaceae family, Cherry trees are grown for their edible and beautiful fruit. Native to the Eastern Hemisphere, these trees are cultivated almost anywhere today. As a shade-loving tree, it is not advisable to plant it near other trees as it prefers full sun but may tolerate partial shade if it is planted at the base of a big tree. Up to 10 different species of this cherry tree are known today in North America and more than the same number in other regions of Europe.

In addition to being shade tolerant, Cherry trees are fast growing and one of the best known varieties is the Maranta cherry plants. As its name suggests, this tree is a slow growing tree that matures later than the rest. It can live up to three decades and producing an abundance of fresh, sweet and delicious fruits. The Maranta cherries are most known for its taste and are used to make jams, jellies, juices, ice cream and candies.

Cherry trees are quite tolerant of adverse conditions such as too much frost, too much rain or too much heat. They can grow well even in poor soil. The best way to plant this tree is in a moderately fertile soil where the tree can have direct access to sunlight. This type of soil allows the roots of this tree to expand and deepen, making it grow up to be bushy and strong. In addition, you can train this tree to grow in various ways, depending on the size of the plant. Small cherry plants can be trained into a ball by tying them with a rope to a post or tree trunk and the remaining branches can be twisted and trained along the trunk until they all become a ball.

Maranta cherries are among the few types of ornamental plants that yield a large crop of highly edible fresh cherries each year. The blooms of these plants last for about two weeks and blooms at the end of August to September. They have small, dark red blossoms and have a thin skin, making it easy to notice the plants even during its blooming stage. The trees have long, short branches with long tips and narrow leaves. When the cherry blooms, it usually produces a lot of little red berries that can be eaten off by the birds. The small size of the cherry makes it very attractive for making decorations and gifts during Christmastime.

These ornamental plants can grow up to three feet tall and are good performers both in the home garden and in flower show cases. The cherry can be planted in full sun, partial shade or in light shade. The slow-growing trees are perfect for container gardens and need very little care when it comes to water. The majority of these plants will grow with other plants of the same kind as well as causes and daffodils. If you do not have any green leaves yet, the plants will only require that you provide them with plenty of water and nutrients from the soil. The two main kinds of plants that grow well with cherry trees are the Pennyroyal and the Red Obake.

If you want to provide your Cherry Tree with shade during the hot, summer months, then it is best to plant it in a location where there is a lot of shade. You should also avoid planting it right in the middle of a tree as the result of it being planted at the base of a tree might cause it to lose its leaves. The best place for planting is about two to three feet away from the trunk. When the cherry starts blooming, it will produce little red berries. During the warmer seasons, the blooms will produce larger berries that are black and furry when they appear.
